Freedom Weekend Aloft

Last weekend was Freedom Weekend Aloft here in Simpsonville. It is a festival, so there are plenty of funnel cakes and all that fun stuff, and there are also rides and carnival-type things for kids. This is the first year that it was held at our park here in town, and we are really hoping they will hold it here from now on. The highlight of the evening was when we saw the hot air balloons take-off. It was incredibly hot, but overall it was a very fun family outing. Griffin loved the carousel and riding the train, and Maddy was good for the most part and eventually fell asleep. I made the mistake of wearing new sandals and have some pretty nasty blisters to show for it.

There's a new kid in town.

Big Brother

Griffin loves holding Madelyn, but thankfully only when we are around to supervise. He calls her "baby girl" and gives her plenty of kisses. Maddy also loves her big brother. She stares at him all the time--it's strange how she already knows he is more fun than we are. Although changing diapers has become a full-time job and it is sometimes hard to find the carpet under all the toys, their smiles and laughs make it a pretty amazing life.
